Organic Pomegranate Seed Oil

by Travis Gerhart
Organic Pomegranate Seed Oil

Throughout history, Pomegranates (Punica granatum L.) have symbolized abundance and were highly revered for their luxurious, glossy, and deep red berries. Considered "The Fruit of Life," they were a symbol of the circle of life by many cultures. They were seen as a profoundly nutritious food with boundless health-promoting capabilities.

Pomegranate seed oil has a unique composition, with high concentrations of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, making it a versatile and nourishing oil for the skin. The oil is easily absorbed, providing hydration and nourishment without leaving a heavy, oily residue. It contains antioxidants, including punicic acid, ellagic acid, and Vitamin C. Pomegranate seed oil is also high in phytosterols and has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties.

WHAT IS POMEGRANATE SEED OIL?

Pomegranate seed oil is made using a green cold-extraction process that utilizes minimal heat to preserve the oil's enzymes, nutrients, and vitamins.

The naturally occurring nutrients in Pomegranate seed oil promote natural collagen production by the skin, as well as work to enhance elasticity, reduce the appearance of scarring, promote the reversal of skin damage, and provide lasting moisture and hydration to the cells. It has also been shown to reduce skin inflammation, protect against sun damage, soothe irritation, and accelerate skin cell rejuvenation and repair.

SKIN HEALTH BENEFITS OF POMEGRANATE SEED OIL

Pomegranate seed oil is a versatile and nourishing oil that is suitable for all skin types and can help to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin.

Pomegranate seed oil is known for its potential benefits for skin health. Some of the benefits include:

• Antioxidant protection: Pomegranate seed oil is high in antioxidants, including punicic acid, which can help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals and environmental stressors.

• Hydration: Pomegranate seed oil is easily absorbed by the skin, providing hydration and nourishment without leaving a heavy, oily residue.

• Anti-aging: Pomegranate seed oil has been shown to help improve the appearance of aging skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

• Anti-inflammatory: Pomegranate seed oil has anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful for sensitive or irritated skin.

• Protection: Pomegranate seed oil is rich in essential fatty acids, including linoleic and linolenic acids, which are necessary for maintaining healthy skin.

Pomegranate seed oil is a rich source of antioxidants and essential fatty acids, including Punicic Acid, Ellagic Acid, Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Phytosterols, and Tocopherol (Vitamin E).

Punicic acid has been shown to protect collagen fibers found in the skin, accelerating wound healing and reducing the appearance of scars. Punicic acid has unique properties that fight skin inflammation and regenerate tissues. It helps support collagen production and protects against environmental harm while preserving the internal moisture balance of the skin. Punicic acid's most beneficial advantage is that it protects aged and sun-damaged skin from further damage and helps it regenerate itself. It gives the appearance of firmer, younger skin to dull, aging skin. It increases the number of keratinocyte cells, which thickens the skin and improves its protective barrier against UV radiation and other harsh environmental factors. Using it on the skin gives UV protection, boosts skin vitality, and fights wrinkles and sun damage.

Ellagic acid is a type of polyphenol found in pomegranate seed oil that works synergistically with punicic acid. It has strong antioxidant properties and has been shown to help protect the skin from damage, improve the appearance of aging skin, and promote the repair of scars and discoloration.

Oleic acid (Omega-9) is an essential fatty acid that promotes and maintains the skin's suppleness, radiance, and softness. Additionally, oleic acid acts as an antioxidant and reduces the appearance of aging, irritation, and inflammation while promoting cell regeneration.

Linoleic acid (Omega-6) is an essential fatty acid that facilitates wound healing, promotes anti-inflammatory properties, soothes, rejuvenates, fortifies, and promotes the skin's moisture retention ability. Linoleic acid also helps balance our skin's oil and creates a natural protective barrier against environmental damage.

Palmitic acid is an antioxidant that promotes softening, soothing, and skin hydration.

Stearic acid offers exceptional pore-cleansing properties while softening and protecting the skin by binding water.

Phytosterols can function as the building blocks for cell membranes that boost collagen production, relieve skin of sun damage, promote skin repair and rejuvenation, and reduce the appearance of scars and environmental damage.

Vitamin E (alpha, delta, & gamma-tocopherol) is known to possess antioxidant properties that slow the effects of aging while improving circulation. Vitamin E also helps to prevent moisture loss, cleanse pores, balance oil production, soothe damaged skin, and provide healing support to scarred or blemished skin.
